DPTI Media Alert - Torrens Road to River Torrens Project traffic switch

CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

16 August 2016

South Road traffic will be switched on to the newly constructed northbound surface road, between the Outer Harbor rail line and Torrens Road, from 6am Monday 22 August 2016.

This traffic switch is another milestone in the $896 million Torrens Road to River Torrens Project and marks the completion of another section of what will become the northbound surface road once the project is completed.

To facilitate this switch, from 7pm Friday 19 August to 6am Monday 22 August 2016, traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on South Road between Port Road and Torrens Road and on Torrens Road between Ellen Street and Wright Street.

Side street access in the area will also be restricted. Signage will be in place to advise motorists and road users are encouraged to seek alternative routes where possible.

These restrictions will be eased in the lead up to the Showdown on Saturday evening. People heading to Adelaide Oval for the Showdown are encouraged to leave early, travel via Port Road or Grange Road or catch a Footy Express public transport service.

Visit for details about the restrictions as well as directions for alternative routes to avoid this area. For information about Footy Express services, please visit or call the Adelaide Metro Infoline on 1300 311 108.
