Port Germein Jetty Repair Works
8 June 2016
South Australian company, Maritime Constructions, has been awarded the contract to repair the heritage listed Port Germein jetty which was damaged during recent storms.
Port Germein is the longest timber jetty in the State at 1254 metres. 60 metres of the jetty (approximately 750 metres from shore) sustained damage due to a king tide and severe wind gusts in May 2016.
The repair works will include replacing structural members such as girders, corbels and crossheads with new timber and replacing the decking, kerbing and hand rail.
Wherever possible, the original kerbing and deck planks will be re-used during the repairs.
The works are scheduled to commence on Tuesday 14 June and are expected to be completed by late July 2016, weather permitting.
The jetty has been closed since the storm damage and will remain closed for the duration of the repair works.
DPTI thanks the public for their patience during these important works.
