O-Bahn City Access Project Night Works

30 May 2016

Night works at the intersection of Hackney Road and Botanic Road commence Wednesday 1 June, 2016 for construction of the O-Bahn City Access tunnel.

Night works at the intersection of Hackney Road and Botanic Road commence Wednesday 1 June, 2016 for construction of the O-Bahn City Access tunnel.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that night works for construction of the O-Bahn City Access tunnel will be undertaken at the intersection of Hackney Road and Botanic Road from Wednesday 1 June, 2016.

The works will occur each day from 7pm to 6am, for approximately six weeks.

There will be no night works occurring on the long weekend Friday 10 June to Monday 13 June 2016.

From 1 June to 13 June 2016, service works will take place at various locations through the intersection.

From Tuesday 14 June to 22 June 2016 (excluding Friday), there will be seven nights of sheet piling, weather permitting. Sheet piling involves driving steel sheets into the ground to form the tunnel walls.

From Wednesday 22 June to mid-July 2016, (excluding Fridays) installation will commence on the tunnel roof followed by road reinstatement.

Traffic detours and speed and lane restrictions will apply during these works. Advance signage will be in place to advise motorists.

Motorists and road users are requested to take extra care when workers are on site and observe traffic signage and speed restrictions when travelling through the area.

Passenger information for Adelaide Metro bus services will be available at www.adelaidemetro.com.au and signage will be installed at bus stops to advise any changes.

Every effort will be made to minimise disruption to road users and the local community.

DPTI thanks road users and local residents for their patience whilst these important works are undertaken.

The $160 million O-Bahn City Access Project builds on the State Government’s significant investment to build a stronger public transport network. The project is due for completion in late 2017.
