Media Alert – Changes to Traffic along Main South Road

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises motorists that there will be lane restrictions northbound and southbound along South Road From 10.00 am on Friday 20 May until 6.00 am on Monday 23 May for essential Darlington Upgrade Project works.
Between 10.00 am and 8.00 pm on Friday 20 May there will be a reduction from four to two lanes northbound on Main South Road between the Marion Road and Southern Expressway intersections.
Between 8.00 pm on Friday 20 May and 6.00 am on Monday 23 May there will be a reduction from four to two lanes southbound and four to two lanes northbound on Main South Road between the Marion Road and Southern Expressway intersections. The right hand turn from Main South Road into Brookside Road will be closed during this period and users will be required to make a U-turn at the turn off 200 m to the north.
Works will include trenching, pipe installation, backfilling and asphalt reinstatement. The works are being undertaken during low traffic volume periods to minimise impact to motorists.
Please note – these works are unrelated to the unexpected water damage that occurred at the site of trenching works on Monday.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and allow additional time while works are being undertaken. DPTI thanks motorists for their patience while these important works are carried out.
