Pedestrian Actuated Crossing on John Rice Avenue

CONNECT - Message from the Chief Executive

2 February 2016

Safety will be improved on John Rice Avenue, Elizabeth Vale with works to install a new pedestrian actuated crossing (PAC) facility starting.

The new crossing is being installed approximately 75 metres east of the intersection with Haydown Road, Elizabeth Vale.

Access to the Elizabeth Vale shopping centre will be maintained during the works.

A 25 km/h speed restriction will be in place while workers are on site. Lane and other speed restrictions may apply subject to onsite conditions.

Access to the existing shopping centre car park immediately to the west of the proposed PAC will be changed to left in and left out only to assure the safety of all road users.

To accommodate these safety improvements, bus stop number 55 on the south east side of John Rice Avenue will be relocated 20 metres to the west.

The $347 000 safety initiative is funded by the Australian Government’s Black Spot Program and are expected to be completed by April 2016, weather permitting.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure thanks road users for their cooperation and patience while these important safety improvements are undertaken.
