New asphalt surface complete for the Park Terrace, Fitzroy Terrace and Torrens Road upgrade
23 December 2015
The Australian and South Australian governments are pleased to advise that the asphalt resurfacing, as part of the $11.3m upgrade of Park Terrace, Fitzroy Terrace and Torrens Road, is now complete.
The upgrade provides three lanes in each direction between Port Road and Prospect Road, with an extra city-bound lane also included on Torrens Road.
The project has increased safety for pedestrians and cyclists with improved footpaths and improved connections to cycling routes, including the Adelaide Park Lands.
These works will ease traffic congestion for over 40 000 vehicles that use these roads each day and will provide an alternative route for motorists affected by major construction works on the $896 million North-South Corridor, Torrens Road to River Torrens Project.
The project is another example of the Australian and South Australian governments working together to deliver vital road infrastructure in South Australia and boost the South Australian economy.
Some minor works and landscaping are expected to take place in 2016 with minimal impact expected on road users and residents.
The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure would like to thank road users and residents for their patience and cooperation during these important works.
