New development for Adelaide's east

4 May 2015

One of Adelaide’s prime pieces of real estate – the site of the former Magill Youth Training Centre at Woodforde – will be transformed into a modern urban community.

The State Government has agreed to sell the 19-hectare site, one of the largest parcels of land to be released in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs, to Devine, which plans to develop a new community of more than 300 homes.

The site in Glen Stuart Road, Woodforde will provide diverse housing types and densities, including 15 per cent affordable housing, and will include about 30 per cent as open space.

Commercial negotiations and State Government approvals are now complete and the site is under contract to Devine, whose residential projects include Orleana Waters at Evanston Gardens and Mawson Green at Meadows in the Adelaide Hills.

To allow the land to be redeveloped, the land was rezoned through a Development Plan Amendment (DPA) in January 2014. The Magill Youth Training Centre was demolished in June 2014.

Devine must seek approval from Adelaide Hills Council to subdivide the land for the new development before releasing residential allotments to the market.
