SASI Canoe sprint team compete in Grand Prix 2

The SASI Canoe sprint team competed at Penrith, Sydney for Grand Prix 2 over the weekend. This was the first of 2 selection events for the 2015 senior and U23 national teams with the other selection event being Nationals in March.
The 200m squad produced some outstanding results with youngster Callum Dunn leading the way with 2 third place finishes in the K1 200m and the K2 200m where he was partnered with Ben McLean (NSW). Ben Gallard and Tim Symonds also made the K1 200m A final finishing 6th and 7th respectively.
Catherine McArthur led the way for the women finishing in the top 6 for all her events. 5th and 6th in the K1 200m and K1 500mrespectively as well as 1st and 4th in the K2 200m, with Madison Davies, and K2 500m with Hannah Minogue (NSW). The junior girls also had a great weekend with Francesca Kidd and Ruby Backen competing in all of the U18 A finals across the weekend.
There were also some good results coming from the 1000m racing with Zac Ryan and Glenn Rypp narrowly missing the K1 1000m A final and the U23 pairing of Sean Lohse and Jayden Ellis finishing 5th in the K2 1000m.
