Southern Expressway Closures
Friday, 5 June 2020
As part of the Darlington Upgrade Project, the Southern Expressway will be closed for night works to enable testing of the Intelligent Transport System in the lowered motorway for three weeks, commencing Tuesday, 9 June.
To safely facilitate the works, the following traffic restrictions will be in place for the Southern Expressway, week nights only, between 7pm and 6am;
- Southbound lanes of the Southern Expressway, including the lowered motorway, will be closed between Tonsley Boulevard and Marion Road. Motorists can access the Southern Expressway at the Marion Road on ramp
- Northbound lanes of the Southern Expressway will be closed from Sherriffs Road, Lonsdale to Tonsley Boulevard, St Marys. Northbound motorists are advised to use Main South Road surface road.
Access for emergency services vehicles will be maintained at all times during these closures.
Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time and take extra care when workers are on site. Observe speed limits, lane restrictions and traffic controllers when travelling through the area.
These works are weather dependent and may need to be rescheduled.
Thank you for your patience while these important works are undertaken.
