Hello Tap and Pay on all Adelaide Metro buses - and goodbye to paper tickets
Wednesday, 26 April 2023
The popular Tap and Pay option for Adelaide public transport is now being rolled out across all Adelaide Metro buses, as the switch to convenient credit card options continues.
From late April 2023 Tap and Pay facilities will be progressively rolled out across all standard Adelaide Metro buses in addition to current services on O-Bahn buses and trams, and the existing metroCARD system.
Customers will enjoy more accessible public transport and easier ways to pay as smart validators replace the end-of-life dual transaction validators on standard buses.
Visitors and locals alike will appreciate the Tap and Pay option on services including the dedicated Adelaide Airport bus, which makes travelling to and from the city quick and economical.
As part of Adelaide Metro’s network-wide ticketing upgrade, MetroTickets are being phased out and will no longer be accepted on buses from 1 July, 2023.
Just 4.6 per cent of total ticket sales in 2022 were paper MetroTickets while less than 0.5 per cent of MetroTicket usage was on buses.
Customers can buy a singletrip or daytrip before 30 June from Adelaide Metro or their local metroCARD retailer and get a free metroCARD.
MetroCARD remains the best option for customers who want to transfer between vehicles or travel with a concession fare.
