Traffic switches on Main South Road
Tuesday, 18 April 2023
Traffic switches along Main South Road will see vehicles move onto sections of the new roadway for the first time, as part of the duplication project.
On Thursday 20 April 2023, traffic will switch onto the newly constructed western lanes of Main South Road, between Tatachilla Road and Little Road. This will allow for work to commence on the eastern lanes.
Traffic will run on one lane each way, using the western lanes, until the eastern lanes open, which is anticipated to be in late 2023.
Then, on Monday 22 May 2023, traffic will switch to the new eastern lanes between Griffiths Drive and Pedler Road. This will also follow a single lane in each direction configuration, to allow for the construction of the western lanes.
The Australian and South Australian governments have committed a total of $685 million to fund the Fleurieu Connections Main South Road and Victor Harbor Road duplication projects, to be delivered by the Fleurieu Connections Alliance.
The Alliance is a consortium comprising CPB Contractors, Aurecon and GHD, with sub-alliance partners McMahon Services Australia and Tonkin, in association with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport.
These projects will result in safer and faster journeys for motorists and provide a vital boost for local tourism, communities and support hundreds of jobs each year during construction.
