River Murray update: Goyder Highway to re-open in both directions tomorrow morning

Tuesday, 7 February 2023

Following the removal of the temporary levee from the road surface, the Goyder Highway near Morgan will re-open to all vehicles (excluding Oversize Overmass vehicles) in both directions from 9am tomorrow (Wednesday 8 February).

Goyder Highway was previously closed to northbound traffic on December 30, 2022 following the construction of a temporary levee.

The reopening of the highway follows the latest inspection and results of strength testing, which confirmed that it is safe to re-open the restricted section to all vehicles except oversize overmass vehicles.

A 40 km/h speed restriction will be in place, with signage and bollards installed to keep motorists away from soft sections on the road shoulder.

Road users are reminded to always drive to the conditions and to take extra care around road workers and other motorists.

The Department and its contractors continue to monitor state government managed roads closely, conducting assessments and necessary repairs to re-open roads as soon as it is safe to do so.
