Get on your bike at the Think! Road Safety Family Day
Tuesday, 17 January 2023
Come have fun practising your cycling skills and learning to be safe on the roads at the free Think! Road Safety Family Day on 17 January, before the Santos Tour Down Under kicks off in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD.
Under the THINK! Road Safety Partnerships program, the SA Police Road Safety Centre will host a day of family fun from 1pm on 17 January 2023, offering children the chance to ride on the mock roadway and gain confidence on their bike, while learning about road rules and cycling safety.
The mock roadway includes traffic lights, pedestrian crossings and a roundabout, helping children become familiar with road signage and rules in a controlled, enclosed space away from cars and traffic.
Children can bring their own bikes or scooters, or there will be bikes available to borrow – including some accessibility friendly options.
SA Police and Think! Road Safety representatives will be on hand to help kids of all ages to Think! Road Safety, encouraging everyone to share the road and look out for more vulnerable road users such as cyclists and pedestrians.
With giveaways for kids and appearances from Jeff the Road Safety Dog, this free event is the perfect lead up to the start of cycling action with the Santos Tour Down Under efex Prologue winding around Adelaide’s city streets from 6pm.
The SA Police Road Safety Centre is just a short walk along North Terrace or from the Thebarton tram stop, or an easy ride from Adelaide Railway Station.
No bookings or tickets are required.
