Reminder – Use alternative transport options on 9 January 2023 due to industrial action impacting Adelaide Metro bus network

Friday, 6 January 2023

Adelaide Metro customers are reminded to use alternative transport options or work from home, if possible, on Monday, 9 January 2023, with bus services to be significantly impacted by planned industrial action by some drivers employed by Torrens Transit.

There will be major disruption to bus services across metropolitan Adelaide, with the exception of the Outer South and Hills areas, which are expected to operate to normal timetables.

Commuters are strongly encouraged to use alternative transport options, including using park ‘n’ rides to access train and tram services, carpooling with a colleague or friend, or working from home, where possible.

Many services across Adelaide’s eastern and western suburbs, inner north and inner south, as well as the outer north-east (which includes O-Bahn services) and outer north, will not be available on Monday.

Bus services plan to only be running on the select corridors listed below - approximately every 30 minutes to and from the city:

The Adelaide Metro journey planner, timetables and real time data will be unavailable for these services.

Some of these services may also need to be cancelled at short notice due to driver availability.

To help mitigate the impact to commuters, a small number of additional train and tram services will be running, as well as substitute buses as sweeper services at the three O-Bahn interchanges.

Adelaide Metro will continue to keep commuters informed of impacts to services via all available channels, including at adelaidemetro.com.au, on the Adelaide Metro Twitter account (twitter.com/AdelaideMetroSA) and the Department for Infrastructure and Transport’s Facebook page (facebook.com/DFITSA).

Passengers are also being made aware of this disruption to services with signage at key bus stops and interchanges, announcements at Adelaide Metro railway stations, variable message boards throughout Adelaide and the deployment of customer service staff across the network.

Normal services are expected to resume on Tuesday, 10 January 2023.

Any further updates will be provided as soon as possible on social media and the Adelaide Metro website, where passengers can view maps highlighting the bus services that will/will not be operating. Passengers can also call the Adelaide Metro Infoline on 1300 311 108 (open 7am-8pm daily) with any enquiries.

Adelaide Metro thanks all customers for their patience and apologises for the inconvenience caused by this industrial action.
