Make your voice heard on SE Freeway down-track safety

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport is seeking feedback from the community about safety issues on the down-track of the South Eastern Freeway.

Community feedback is sought from anyone who uses the freeway descent in relation to issues such as infrastructure, use of technology, driver behaviour and education, speed limits, and traffic management signage and cameras.

The feedback will be captured in a new survey, which is now open and can be accessed at dit.sa.gov.au/sefreeway

Information provided by the community will inform the comprehensive review already underway into heavy vehicle safety, which included a successful industry roundtable last month.

The roundtable, along with feedback from the recent South Australian Road Transport Association conference, brought together key industry and road safety stakeholders to consider factors ranging from infrastructure and technology requirements, compliance and safety issues, to driver training and education.

Together with other feedback to date, over 300 ideas and proposals have been gathered and are being collated as part of the review to then inform a short list of potential solutions.

Feedback received from the public survey and from other stakeholders will be presented to industry stakeholders at a second roundtable to be held on 5 October, with a discussion of potential effective options and timeframes for implementing these safety measures.

The South Eastern Freeway Heavy Vehicle Safety survey will be open until 2 October 2022.
