Seaford, Flinders and Belair line closures for station upgrades over Easter weekend
Tuesday, 8 April 2025
The Seaford and Flinders rail lines will close, and the Belair line will partially close over the Easter long-weekend for track maintenance and infrastructure upgrades.
From 8:30pm Thursday, 17 April to last service Monday, 21 April, trains will not operate between the Adelaide, Seaford and Flinders Railway stations. The Belair line will be closed between Adelaide and Mitcham Railway Station from 8:30pm Thursday, 17 April to last service Sunday, 20 April.
On the Belair line, train services will still operate in both directions between Mitcham Railway Station and Belair Railway Station.
Substitute buses will operate and service the Seaford and Flinders rail lines and between Adelaide Railway Station and Mitcham Railway Station on the Belair rail line, including Footy Express services for the Adelaide vs GWS Giants game at Adelaide Oval on Saturday, 19 April.
The temporary closures are required to allow crews to safely undertake track maintenance as well as upgrades at Noarlunga, Marino and Clarence Park Railway stations.
This includes the $2 million upgrade of Marino Railway Station, where works will commence to install a new shelter, foundation of a new digital information kiosk and CCTV to improve passenger safety and experience.
When completed, the interactive platform screen will provide live timetable updates and visual and audio announcements designed to help passengers with visual or hearing impairments.
The new curved shelter will have seating, lean rails and weather screens, enhancing comfort for Adelaide Metro passengers who account for more than 32,000 trips from Marino Railway Station each year.
Meanwhile, works will commence at Clarence Park Railway Station to improve safety and accessibility, with the installation of a new Active Pedestrian Crossing and northern station access ramp. At the Noarlunga Railway Station, the David Witton Drive bridge will have safety screens installed, and the station repainted.
These works cannot be undertaken while trains are running and have been carefully planned to minimise the effect on commuters, including minimising impact on major events.
Additionally, the Jetty Road level crossing at Brighton will temporarily close between 7am Friday, 18 April and 7pm Monday, 21 April for boom gate maintenance. All traffic will be detoured away from the level crossing.
Adelaide Metro thanks customers for their patience while these important works are undertaken.
