Main Road, Cherry Gardens

Project Background

The project was delivered as part of the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety Package, which aims to upgrade some of the region’s key strategic arterial roads. The $150 million initiative, jointly funded by the Australian and South Australian governments (80:20) over five years, includes a range of road improvements to support economic growth, improve road safety and increase fire resilience in the Adelaide Hills area.

This project supported approximately 40 full-time equivalent jobs over the construction period.

Consultation

Feedback from local road users helped shape the concept design for Main Road, Cherry Gardens – the first design to be released as part of the Adelaide Hills Productivity and Road Safety (PRS) Package.

The engagement focused on listening, learning and gathering local insights on current experiences travelling along Main Road. We received valuable feedback through face-to-face sessions, surveys, emails, and online submissions. These local insights were used to inform the design for the Main Road safety upgrades.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their insights. Read the Adelaide Hills PRS consultation summary for more information
