Industry participation

The Industry Participation Advocate (IPA), Mr Ian Nightingale, was appointed by the Premier of South Australia in February 2013 to further the aims of the Industry Participation Policy, ensuring local businesses leverage maximum opportunities from the $3.8 billion of contracts let annually by the State Government.

As part of his role, the IPA will be working collaboratively with DIT to identify new ways to drive local investment, develop strong value chains from the State’s portfolio of major projects such as the North-South Corridor, Darlington Upgrade Project.

There can be significant benefits to government, the community and local businesses when the tendering and procurement functions are delivered in a strategic and integrated manner. It is an aim of the IPA to increase the awareness of how the important contribution from local companies is to the South Australian economy. Many of our companies are leaders in their field and it is our vision to build and maintain the skills and capabilities needed to successfully compete for Government contracts.
