Who we’re looking for

We’d love to hear from bright and innovative team players who’ve completed a minimum three-year degree within the last three years in:

  • business administration or management
  • information technology – cloud computing, computer science, data analytics, computer programming, geospatial, software development or software engineering
  • communications, media, journalism, or marketing
  • contract management
  • construction management
  • engineering – civil, electrical, mechanical, structural, systems or traffic
  • finance, economics, accounting or commerce

Eligibility

To be considered for a graduate officer role, you need to meet the following criteria:

  • You have completed a university qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in the specified discipline(s) within the last three years, or you will have your qualification before the employment start date.
  • You have not previously completed a graduate program within, or hosted by, the SA public sector.
  • You are willing to undergo a national police check and clearance to meet required entry standards.
  • You meet all employment conditions, including the ability to travel independently to and from your workplace, training sites and other sites as required.
  • You are an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or have an appropriate visa that allows you to work in Australia.
  • You have completed the application process in full.

Frequently asked questions

What is the salary?

Engineering graduates are employed as Professional Officer Level 1 (PO1) with an expectation of three annual job rotations.

The salary range of PO1: $67,466 to $82,359 per annum, plus superannuation (currently 11%).

All other graduates (Corporate Graduates) are employed as an Administrative Service Officer Level 2 (ASO2). Some specialist disciplines are appointed at an Administrative Service Officer Level 3 (ASO3).

  • ASO2: $57,842 to $62,221 per annum, plus superannuation (currently 11%).
  • ASO3: $66,590 to $70,968 per annum, plus superannuation (currently 11%).

What is role duration?

Corporate Graduate contracts (ASO2 and ASO3): Temporary up to 2 years.

Engineering Graduate contracts (PO1): Temporary up to 3 years.

What are the working hours?

Full-time employees are expected to work 37.5 hours a week, or 7.5 hours a day.

The Department, however, offers a range of flexible working arrangements. You will be able to discuss the options that best suit you at the interview and/or offer stage.

Where is the role located?

Graduate Officer roles are offered in the Adelaide CBD and metropolitan area.

Graduate roles may also occasionally be offered in regional locations. If a regional location is a requirement of the role you’re being considered for, we will discuss this with you at interview and/or offer stage.

When is the expected start date?

Most graduate positions will commence in January or February as negotiated with the successful applicant and business unit.
