Younger drivers

It takes time to become a safe driver.

That’s why you need a learner’s permit and a provisional licence before you get a full licence.

Be patient. Learn the road rules and spend as much time as you can with your qualified supervising driver.

The more practice you get, the better your driving will be.

The conditions applying to learner's permits and provisional licences are there to keep young drivers - and new drivers - safe.

  • Limit your distractions while driving – try putting your mobile on silent and place it out of reach, keep your music at a lower volume so you can concentrate on your surroundings while you’re driving.
  • Young drivers are much more likely to crash when they have 2 or more people their own age in their car.
