Barefoot skiing at Long Island

29 Nov 2011

The SA Barefoot Water Ski Club will be holding tournaments over the summer at Long Island, Murray Bridge.

The club has been granted a licence to hold the barefoot skiing tournaments and restrict access to the river on the western side of Long Island or at an alternative site on the eastern side.

For safety reasons, vessels and persons other than those participating in the event are prohibited from entering this area of water during the hours of 6.30 am to 1.00 pm on the following dates:

  • Saturday 10 December 2011
  • Saturday 14 January 2012
  • Saturday 18 February 2012
  • Saturday 17 March 2012
The licence states that during the events, on the western side of Long Island an upstream and downstream access corridor must be provided. If the alternative location on the eastern side of Long Island is to be used no corridors are required and the Murray Bridge Boat Club must be given a days notice.
