Speed limit reduction for Henley Beach Road

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the speed limit on Henley Beach Road, between South Road and Stephens Avenue will be reduced from 60km/h to 50 km/h effective from Sunday 17 December 2017.

This stretch of road is a high activity pedestrian precinct and between 2012-2016 there were 12 pedestrian crashes including one fatal and two serious injury crashes.

This initiative will provide a safer environment for all road users, especially pedestrians, by reducing the risk and severity of crashes.

The speed limit signs will be supplemented with ‘Pedestrian Precinct’ signs to highlight the nature of the precinct and the new 50km/h zone.

Temporary Variable Message Signs will also be placed on site to advise drivers of the speed limit change.
