Registrations open for 2018 Way2Go Bike Ed

21 Aug 2017

Registrations are now open for the 2018 round of Way2Go Bike Ed for primary schools.

The state-wide program, which is part of the broader Way2Go program, provides bicycle education for students aged 9-13 years (Years 4-7) and develops their confidence and competence as safe bike riders for travel to and from school.

DPTI’s Way2Go program continues to be in demand across the state with 210 primary schools and 41 local councils actively partnering to take actions that will result in more students safely and actively traveling to school.

The number of students participating each year has doubled since 2014 to include more than 8000 students across 90 schools in 2018.

Participating students gain an understanding of road and traffic environments and relevant road laws, develop physical skills and learn responsible behaviours and decision-making skills for the safe use of bikes on and off the road.

The program is tailored to individual schools and is inclusive of the range of students’ experience, skills and abilities.

Way2Go uses a whole school approach built on a partnership between local councils, school communities and the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure.

Schools have until Friday 22 September 2017 to apply.

Find out more information and apply on the Way2Go website.
