Torrens Rail Junction – Temporary rail closures

30 Jun 2017

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) advises that the Outer Harbor, Grange and Gawler rail lines will be temporarily closed Saturday 22 July and Sunday 23 July 2017 to allow works to continue for the Torrens Rail Junction Project.

The $238 million joint State and Commonwealth project involves separating the freight and passenger rail lines and removing level crossings at Park Terrace and Gibson Street.

The project is supporting 212 jobs a year during construction.

Substitute buses will be provided and will replicate the existing train timetables as closely as practicable.

There will be no impact to MAC Footy Express services with the lines to temporarily close after the conclusion of the Adelaide Crows v Geelong Cats Friday night game.

Outer Harbor and Grange lines

  • The rail line will be fully closed between Adelaide and Outer Harbor/Grange.
  • Passenger train services will be closed from last service on Friday 21 July 2017 and reopening for first service Monday 24 July 2017.
  • Substitute buses will be provided to replicate the train timetable as closely as practicable.
  • Buses will pick up and set down at Stop W1 North Terrace (outside the convenience store at 136 North Terrace).

Gawler line

  • The Gawler rail line will be fully closed between Adelaide and Gawler Central Station.
  • Passenger train services will be closed from last service on Friday 21 July 2017 and reopening for first service Monday 24 July 2017.
  • Substitute buses will be provided to replicate the train timetable as closely as practicable.
  • Substitute buses will pick up and set down at Stop D North Terrace (outside the InterContinental Adelaide).

Temporary timetables for all lines will be available at www.adelaidemetro.com.au

Signage will be in place at affected train stations and substitute bus stops to direct passengers.

Thank you for your patience whilst these important works are undertaken.
