Outer Harbor/Grange/Gawler temporary rail closure and Semaphore Road Rail Level Crossing Upgrade

Wednesday, 13 November 2019

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking testing and commissioning of the two remaining activated pedestrian crossings at Coglin Street and West Street, Hindmarsh from Friday, 15 November.

Temporary rail closures will be required, with substitute bus services replacing train services, as follows;

Friday 15 November

  • A full line closure of the Outer Harbor line from approximately 7:30pm and the Grange line from approximately 9:00pm until last service.
  • Last inbound Gawler service arriving at Mawson Lakes at 12:05am is cancelled between Mawson Lakes to Adelaide.

Saturday 16 November

  • Partial line closure of the Outer Harbor line from Glanville to Outer Harbor from first service until approximately 7:30pm.
  • Grange line services will operate as normal from first service until approximately 9:00pm.
  • A full line closure of the Outer Harbor line from approximately 7:30pm and the Grange line from approximately 9:00pm until last service.

Sunday 17 November

  • Partial line closure of the Outer Harbor line from Glanville to Outer Harbor from first service until last service
  • Grange line services will operate as normal.

Please note that the partial cancellation of the last Gawler line service is required due to a technical signalling interface with the Outer Harbor line.

During this time, the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) will utilise the closure to complete upgrade works on the Semaphore Road rail level crossing at Exeter.

Works will occur 24/7 from 8:00pm Friday, 15 November, to 6:00am Monday, 18 November and Semaphore Road will be closed to all through traffic between Mead Street and Causeway Road. Detours will be in place for motorists.

Semaphore Road pedestrian crossings (both sides) will be closed, pedestrians will be directed to the nearby Glanville Station crossing.

The 150 Adelaide Metro bus route will detour in both directions for the duration of the works and Stop 43 Fletcher Road will be missed. Passengers will be directed to a temporary stop on Fletcher Road just past Hughes Street.

This upgrade will improve safety and ride quality for road and train users.
