Extreme heat forecast

Thursday, 18 January 2018

As the Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum of 41 degrees today and Friday, 19 January, passengers are urged to take care when travelling.

All public transport passengers are advised to plan ahead and take care when travelling during periods of extreme heat. Avoid travelling in the heat if at all possible, keep to shaded areas while waiting for buses, trains or trams, drink plenty of water and give consideration to vulnerable passengers including the elderly

With extreme heat forecast for the coming days, Adelaide Metro passengers are reminded to closely monitor our website for any potential effects on services.

Prolonged exposure to extreme heat can place the rail network infrastructure under stress. Passengers should be aware that there may be speed reductions on some services to reduce this stress.

While Adelaide Metro will strive to limit any delays or inconvenience to services by the extreme heat, commuters are encouraged to use Adelaide Metro’s information services.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure thanks passengers for their patience and understanding in these extreme conditions.
