All systems go for Leigh Creek Aerodrome

Thursday, 15 December 2022

Major upgrades have been completed at the Leigh Creek Aerodrome, making the facility safer and more accessible.

The Australian and South Australian governments jointly committed $1 million towards the project, which included the resealing of two runways, taxiways and apron, and new line marking.

The Outback Communities Authority successfully secured $500,000 in funding in Round 8 of the Australian Government’s Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program (RAUP), which was then matched by the South Australian Government.

With the resealing works complete, a tender has now been released to upgrade the aerodrome lighting, which is being funded by the Leigh Creek Transformation project.

The RAUP is part of the Australian Government’s Regional Aviation Access Program.
