New ‘pocket park’ to provide extra green space at Prospect

Wednesday, 12 October 2022

A ‘pocket park’ will be created on the corner of Da Costa Avenue and Main North Road, returning open green space to the community adjacent the ‘Scotty’s Corner’ intersection of Nottage Terrace and Main North Road.

The land was acquired as part of the $19 million upgrade of the Main North Road and Nottage Terrace intersection, and is now being returned to the community.

A community street meeting will be held at this location at 10am on Saturday, 22 October to give the community and stakeholders an opportunity to have their say on the design of the new pocket park. Comments can be provided until Monday, 31 October 2022.

For more information on the project or to provide feedback, visit pocket park.

Community feedback has also helped shape the Nottage Terrace and North East Road Intersection Upgrade to improve road safety and travel times for those travelling to and from the north eastern suburbs.

Following community consultation, on-street parking along Nottage Terrace has been retained where possible and the right turn from Stephen Terrace into North East Road has been retained as part of the upgrade. To view the updated concept visit Nottage Terrace northeast.

The Nottage Terrace and North East Road Intersection Upgrade will ease congestion and improve travel times, particularly for drivers turning left from Nottage Terrace onto North East Road in the afternoon peak period.

Major construction is scheduled to commence this month and be completed in late 2022, weather permitting.

The project will include widening the northern side of Nottage Terrace to accommodate two left-turn lanes onto North East Road, which will improve the connection between the CBD and Adelaide’s north east for the 62,000 vehicles that travel through the intersection each day.

While delivering the Main North Road and Nottage Terrace (‘Scotty’s Corner’) intersection upgrade, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport received feedback from the community that an upgrade was also required at the Nottage Terrace and North East Road intersection.

The Department listened to this feedback and engaged in community consultation regarding the concept design for this subsequent upgrade.

The upgrade of the intersection will also include improved pedestrian crossings and traffic islands at the intersection, including new pedestrian crossing lights and ramps, road resurfacing for the full length of Nottage Terrace and new line marking, and a new eastbound bike lane on Nottage Terrace.

The South Australian and Australian governments are jointly funding (50:50) the $6 million intersection upgrade.
