Extended hours for key Service SA centres to fast-track licence replacements for Optus hack victims

Thursday, 29 September 2022

Three major Service SA branches will remain open for extended hours tonight (Thursday 29 September 2022), to give customers affected by the recent Optus data breach greater opportunity to arrange a replacement driver’s licence.

The State Government is waiving the usual $20 replacement fee for South Australians requiring a new driver’s licence as a result of the data breach.

With thousands of Optus customers requiring access to a replacement licence, Service SA Customer Service Centres at Marion, Prospect and Elizabeth will remain open until 7pm tonight, Thursday 29 September – two hours beyond their usual 5pm closure.

The Marion centre at 1 Milham Street, Oaklands Park, the Prospect office at Northpark Shopping Centre and the Elizabeth branch at Elizabeth Shopping Centre collectively offer a geographical spread across Adelaide’s metro area, and are also centres that have seen a significant spike in traffic over the past couple of days as a result of the Optus hack.

These additional operating hours are intended to help process a significant number of driver’s licence or proof-of-age replacement requests.

Attendance at Service SA is required to enable full identity verification to be completed, as part of that process. An application form to change a licence or client number must be completed at the centre, although customers can download the form – available here – to fill in the details and bring with them. They should also bring their current driver’s licence or proof-of-age card and any correspondence that Optus has sent – this can include an electronic version, such as an email on a smartphone. Optus customers whose data has been affected by the breach have been provided communication from the company that advises their personal information has been compromised.

Once your licence number has been changed, a new driver licence card will be produced and posted to you.

Your new licence will also be immediately available digitally through your mySAGOV account and on the mySAGOV app.

If you have a mySAGOV account it is recommended you set up two-factor authentication to further protect your personal information.
