Seaford line closed on October long-weekend for Brighton Road level crossing works

Friday, 16 September 2022

As part of maintenance works on the Brighton Road level crossing, at Hove, the Seaford line will be closed over the October long-weekend.

Trains will not be running in both directions on the Seaford line from first service Saturday, 1 October to last service Monday, 3 October 2022. Substitute buses will be operating between Adelaide and Seaford/Flinders Railway Stations for passengers of these services.

Trains will resume normal running as timetabled from first-service on Tuesday, 4 October 2022.

Over the long-weekend, Brighton Road level crossing will be closed to all through traffic from 6am Saturday, 1 October to 2pm Monday, 3 October 2022. Road users will be detoured via Sturt, Diagonal and Dunrobin roads.

Adelaide Metro 265 and N62 bus services will also be detouring while the Brighton Road closure is in place – regular users of these services are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check if their usual stop is affected.

This temporary closure is necessary to safely undertake works at the Brighton Road level crossing that cannot be completed with trains running or road traffic in the area.

The works include track replacement through the crossing, installation of new ballast and renewal of the asphalt pavement. They have been scheduled on the long-weekend to minimise the impact to commuters and other road users.

Brighton Road will remain open to local traffic either side of the level crossing, with detours in place.

The Department apologies for any inconvenience and thanks commuters and road users for their patience while these important works are undertaken.

Passengers are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner.
