Smart land use planning is about striking a balance between protecting an area’s natural resources while supporting its growth, competitiveness and productivity.
An essential step to achieving this on the Island is to ensure the Kangaroo Island Plan, which guides land use and development for the region, reflects a shared vision for the future that will benefit all residents.
KIFA is currently working with the Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) to review the Kangaroo Island Plan. As part of this work, agencies, organisations and individuals on the Island have been consulted to determine what might be done differently to improve outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors, and most importantly how the community can use, conserve and develop land in the region.
