Star of the Sea School works
Star of the Sea School have commenced their National School Pride works under the Building the Education Revolution component of the Australian Government’s $42billion Nation Building-Economic Stimulus Plan.
The School also has Primary Schools for the 21st Century (P21) works planned.
“I’ve been teaching for some thirty years now and this is the biggest shot in the arm for schools ever, for generations to come kids will benefit,” said Mr Michael Honey, Principal.
“A large all weather cover has been completed and we are also receiving some additional shade structures as well as playgrounds and fitness tracks which will really transform the school,” said Mr Honey.
“In addition, over the last ten years or so, the school has been trying to save for a new library, as a result we have been able to combine the money we have saved with the P21 money to build a new library and ICT classroom onto an existing building within the school,” said Mr Honey.
An existing three story building will be extended to include a new library and ICT classroom. This will allow the transportable classrooms that are currently situated on the oval to be removed entirely from the school grounds.
“Not only do we gain these new state of the art modern facilities, but we will have more space on the oval, which means we won’t have to do less split lunches throughout the day for the senior and junior students and we also have more room for playground activities,” said Mr Honey.
