How long does the Program run for and when does it start?
This program occurs over an eight to twelve week period between November and February each year. The length of your placement is dependant on the project you will be working on. Successful applicants are expected to be available to work for this period.
Who is eligible to apply for the Program?
The program is open to all undergraduate students completing an undergraduate degree. Preference will be given to students completing the second, third or fourth year of their course.
If you are not an Australian Citizen or permanent resident of Australia, appropriate visa conditions will apply. Please bring evidence of this documentation to the interview.
How do you apply for the Program?
To apply for the program, the following documentation will need to be provided:
- Application Form
- Employment Declaration
- Resume / CV
- Academic Transcript
- Copy of working VISA (if applicable)
- Confirmation of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander Descent (if applicable)
How much do Program participants get paid?
Vacation Employment students rates of pay are calculated on the employee's age, wages before tax will range between $439.32 - $801.87 per week (first full pay after 01/10/2011), which is based on the SA Government Wages Parity (Salaried) Enterprise Agreement 2010.
Where is the work located?
Employment may be available in a Metropolitan office of the Department or one of the regional offices at:
- Port Augusta
- Port Lincoln
- Murray Bridge
- Naracoorte
- Crystal Brook.
How will I find out whether my application is received?
You will receive an acknowledgement within ten business days of the Department receiving your application.
When will I know if I am successful in securing a vacation placement?
You will be notified by the department in early November if you are successful.
