The Way2Go Bike Ed teacher resource is designed to be taught during the same term that your class is participating in the program.
Topics 1 - 2 must be taught before participating in Way2Go Bike Ed. These tasks will help students to be well prepared and ready to learn practical skills with their bike when the instructors arrive.
Topic 3 - 4 can be carried out at the teachers discretion.
Topic 3 will help students to understand and engage in class discussions with the instructors.
Topic 4 will help support students in their development towards becoming safe and responsible decision makers.
The topics are listed in order of when they should be taught, with some taking more time to teach than others. You may decide to teach a couple of topics in one time block, or distribute them over a longer period throughout the term. Consult with your Way2Go Bike Ed school coordinator about your dates of participation so you know whether you can plan over the term or an intensive week period.
The instruction guide for each topic is just that, a guide. If it’s not appropriate for your class feel free to change the approach so that it better meets the needs of your students.
The time required to complete each topic will depend on your class, and is provided as a rough estimate. Decide whether this is accurate for your class, and plan accordingly once you’ve read through the package.
